About
Alison Wright
Whilst studying fashion and design many years ago I was first introduced to the world of millinery by the legendary milliner Shirley Hex (teacher of Philip Treacy, Stephen Jones and hat maker to Her Majesty The Queen). At this time I also acquired a range of antique hat blocks for just £5 each, which have been decorating my window sill for years, and this was where my millinery journey began.
After college I taught textiles, design and crafts to a wide range of students, always looking at those antique hat blocks.
A few years ago, wanting to study in more depth, and with those blocks standing on the sill, I resumed my millinery journey. After taking a number of couture millinery courses with some lovely milliners including Louise Pocock, Justine Bradley-Hill, Janie Lashford, Bridget Bailey, Denise Innes-Spencer and Carole Maher; I began to design, make and sell in my spare time.
In 2017 I was in the position to focus full time on my millinery journey and finally dust off those blocks. If you are looking for a one-off handmade piece for your special occasion please get in touch.
